Things happen for a reason....

Today I got the terrible news that I was no longer pregnant. I started having problems on Friday and they got better but I just did not feel "pregnant" anymore. After going to the doctor this morning and not finding a heartbeat he scheduled an ultrasound for this afternoon. The ultrasound revealed a gestational sac but no fetus. They call this a blighted ovum. This happens when the baby begins to develop and then some chromosomal abnormalities cause the pregnancy to naturally abort. The fetus is then absorbed back into the uterus. The problem occurs when the body does not realize this happened and the pregnancy continues until the body realizes there is no baby. You continue having normal pregnancy symptoms and do not realize you do not have a baby until you fully miscarry or until an ultrasound. This is very common and accounts for about 50% of miscarriages.


It absolutely crushed me to see this picture today, a sac with no baby, but I know that God has a plan and everything happens for a reason. Shane and I have a very postive outlook and know that it could be so much worse. Now its time to try for another!!

Turkey Time!

Ok so it has been over a month since I blogged, but I vow to do better. Though I have no pictures for this post I will post some later today. With Thanksgiving coming up tomorrow I thought I should make a list of everything I am thankful for so here it goes:
